Job summary

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is seeking a Lactation Consultant to join its interdisciplinary care team. You will provide lactation services and education to hospitalized mothers and infants, developing plans, teaching, and supporting families in complex breastfeeding cases.

Ideal candidates hold a BS in a related field and IBCLC certification, with experience caring for pediatric populations from birth through early childhood.

Qualifications

• Experience in pediatric populations from birth through early childhood.
• IBCLC certification required.
• Bachelor of Science in Dietetics, Education, Nursing, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates expertise in care of mothers/infants with complex breastfeeding problems.
• Determines breastfeeding plan and provides instruction and support to mothers breastfeeding children requiring hospitalization.
• Evaluates pumping frequency and duration.
• Implements standards of care and policies and procedures for breastfeeding management.
• Documents lactation assessment and response to therapy for billing and quality monitoring.
