Job summary

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is seeking an Infection Prevention Epidemiologist to promote high‑quality patient care by applying infection prevention and epidemiology principles across the system. You will support safe care, accurate reporting, and regulatory compliance while contributing to large performance‑improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities include surveillance of infections, collaboration with care teams, data interpretation, and 24/7 infection prevention coverage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an applied science, nursing, public health, epidemiology or related field.
• Master’s degree in a relevant field preferred; clinical or public health focus.
• Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR), preferably EPIC.
• Strong infection prevention and control background.

Responsibilities

• Surveils health-acquired infections and significant community infections.
• Communicates with nurses, physicians and staff regarding infection prevention processes.
• Interprets and reports data using statistics; creates charts and reports for committees.
• Reports to regulatory agencies such as CDC, Public Health Department, OSHA.
• Develops emergency preparedness and disaster planning for infectious events.
