Job summary

UMMC in Jackson, MS is seeking an RN for the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. This inpatient weekend, overnight role requires delivering and coordinating nursing care for pediatric patients on a 90% FTE basis.

Responsibilities include patient assessment, planning and education, maintaining records, and collaborating with case managers and home health as needed. Valid RN licensure is required and strong teamwork is essential.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care by assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating treatments and interventions for patients.
• Educates patients and/or families on the nature of conditions, medications, treatments and schedules.
• Ensures patient safety.
• Coordinates referrals to other services within and outside the unit.
• Maintains accurate patient records.
• Acts as a preceptor in accordance with UMMC guidelines.
• Reports patient issues to supervisor as appropriate.
• Serves on nursing councils or committees to improve patient care and work area.
