Job summary

UMMC in Jackson, MS, is seeking an RN to join the Inpatient Children's General Pediatric Unit (4C) on a part-time basis. The role involves assessing and coordinating nursing care, implementing treatment plans, and educating patients and families within a busy pediatric unit.

The RN will liaise with case managers and home health teams, ensure accurate records, and participate in quality improvement activities while maintaining high standards of patient safety and service delivery.

Qualifications

• Licensed RN in good standing.
• Inpatient pediatric care knowledge is preferred.
• Experience working in a hospital setting is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care.
• Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments, diet and medications.
• Ensure patient safety at all times.
• Coordinate referrals to services inside and outside the unit.
• Maintain accurate patient records.
• Act as a preceptor per UMMC guidelines.
• Report issues to supervisor and participate in committees or projects to improve care.
