Job summary

Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ, part of RWJBarnabas Health, seeks an Assistant Director Patient Care for the Pediatric ICU. Evening, full-time, 37.5 hours weekly.

You will oversee patient care on the 4300 PICU, support the Nurse Manager, and help maintain high standards of nursing excellence. The role requires RN licensing in New Jersey, BLS and PALS certifications, and minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience with management exposure in PICU.

Qualifications

• Graduated from an accredited school of nursing.
• At least 2 years acute care nursing experience or 2 years acute care nursing experience with previous management experience in Pediatric ICU.
• Successful completion of all Orientation Programs.
• Preferred: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or currently matriculating.

Responsibilities

• Manages patient care delivery on an assigned shift in 4300 Pediatrics and Pediatric Intensive Care (PICU).
• Assists the Nurse Manager with ensuring that quality nursing care is delivered to all patients and his/her nursing units in accordance with the hospital's policies and program plans.
• Assists with the development of patient care standards, orientation and continuing education.
• Provides input into evaluation of staff performance in accordance with organization policies.
• Participates in nursing Quality Improvement.
• Assists with unit administration, including scheduling, payroll and maintenance of supplies and equipment.
• Maintains and role models clinical skills necessary to provide care to patients.
• Uses an understanding of growth and development to assess age-specific needs and provide age-specific treatment and care.
