Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health seeks an Assistant Director of Patient Care for the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at the New Brunswick campus. The 20-bed unit delivers round-the-clock critical care to infants, children, and adolescents with life-threatening illnesses or injuries.

The role combines clinical leadership and administrative duties to ensure high-quality, patient-centered nursing services. Responsibilities include scheduling, budgeting, compliance, and on-call leadership for the night shift.

Qualifications

• BSN required
• At least 3–5 years of leadership/charge/preceptor experience as a Pediatric RN required

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership and direction in order to fulfill the goals and objectives of the unit/organization
• Effectively communicates information to staff, utilizes resources and manages staff and services
• Assists the Director with the daily operations of the unit and delegated responsibilities
• Will be assigned 50 percent of patient care responsibilities
• Collaboratively prepares and maintains staff schedule and payroll
• Effectively collaborates with interdisciplinary teams and drives through-out staff accountability
