Job summary

St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children is seeking an Expressive Therapist to provide expressive therapy during home visits under the HCBS Waiver. The role empowers patients and families to express feelings through music, art, and play, aiding communication amid serious illness.

You will collaborate with the palliative care team and home care staff, develop an individual plan of care with patients and families, and educate the team on expressive therapy benefits and implementation.

Qualifications

• Formal education in child psychology or creative arts therapy with relevant NY certification/licensure.
• Licensed or certified in the appropriate expressive therapy discipline as required by NY.
• Experience with pediatric populations and end-of-life or palliative care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Uses music, art, and play therapies to explore patient feelings and foster self-awareness.
• Educates patient and family about expressive therapies and daily-life benefits.
• Maintains a caseload with accurate assessment, planning, implementation and documentation.
• Collaborates with an interdisciplinary team and serves as a clinical resource.
• Develops an expressive therapy plan of care with patient and family.
• Advocates for the patient in relation to Expressive Therapy.
