Job summary

St. David's North Austin Medical Center, a premier hospital in Texas, seeks a Seasonal Registered Nurse for the Pediatric Emergency department. The RN will coordinate high-quality, patient-centered care, collaborate with medical providers, and lead efforts under established nursing models.

The role emphasizes pain management, timely documentation, patient advocacy, and family education. Seasonal status requires a minimum of 72 hours per pay period with the assignment ending March 31, 2027.

Qualifications

• RN licensure in Texas or ability to obtain,
• ACLS and BLS within stated windows after start date,
• PALS required within 6 months of employment start date,
• NIH Stroke Scale within 60 days of start date,
• Trauma certification (ATCN/TNCC) within 1 year of start date,
• Associate or Bachelor degree in nursing,
• Emergency Nurse Pediatric Cour required within 1 year

Responsibilities

• Assess patient pain regularly and promote effective pain management.
• Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered and document care promptly.
• Respond promptly to patient requests and anticipate patient needs.
• Educate patients/families/caregivers about condition, treatment, and follow-up; translate medical terms as needed.
• Educate on non-medicinal follow-up measures and prepare for self-management.
