Job summary

The Rector & Visitors of the University of Virginia in Charlottesville seeks a Charge Nurse for UVA Health's Pediatric Emergency Department to lead clinical care and elevate team performance in a fast-paced pediatric setting.

As a clinician-leader, you will mentor staff, coordinate patient flow, collaborate with physicians and APPs, and uphold evidence-based standards to deliver safe, high-quality care for patients under 21.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing or BSN/MSN expected completion within 5 years.
• Current RN license in Virginia; BLS certification required.
• Experience as Charge Nurse or equivalent leadership on pediatric units.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for nursing staff in the Pediatric ED.
• Mentor nurses and promote clinical best practices.
• Coordinate patient flow, staffing, and acuity management in a high-volume setting.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams for seamless care.
• Support escalation pathways and respond to critical pediatric situations.
• Uphold evidence-based standards and a culture of safety.
