Job summary

Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC seeks an ECMO Specialist to provide comprehensive patient care for ECMO patients, collaborating with physicians and the health care team. The role supports both RN and RT ECMO specialists as needed in a PRN capacity.

The position requires nursing or respiratory credentials, ECMO experience, and the ability to manage complex clinical situations with empathy for patients and families. Must complete CNMC ECMO course within 6 months of hire.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in DC or CRRT/RRT credentials are required.
• ECMO experience preferred; CNMC ECMO course within 6 months of hire is required.
• 1 year pediatric/neonatal ICU experience preferred.
• Must demonstrate strong communication, decision-making and math skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive patient care as ECMO specialist; assess and plan with care team.
• Coordinate care with ECMO physicians; monitor patient conditions and labs.
• Assist in cannulation/decannulation and ECMO circuit maintenance.
• Contribute to program projects and ongoing education.
