Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health's Dietetic-Management department is seeking a Diet Assistant to support patient meal preparation and service. The position requires a high school diploma or GED and ServSafe certification, with day shifts and per diem availability at Children's Specialized Hospital in Mountainside, NJ.

Responsibilities include trayline setup, cold food assembly, baby formula preparation, and menu coordination with diet orders.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required within one year of hire.
Ability to speak, read and write English for daily tasks.
ServSafe certification is required.

Responsibilities

Prepares and handles food in accordance with sanitary and HACCP regulations, in sufficient quantities and on time to meet schedules.
Performs all food service duties related to patient meals including trayline setup, cold food assembly, tray delivery, pickup and sanitation.
Prepares special baby formulas and other nourishments as directed by the Dietician or Dietetic Technician.
Manages patient menus, assists patients with forms, and prepares the count sheet for the next day.
Follows standardized recipes, maintains portion control and sanitary standards.
Heads menus for patient use and maintains clean, orderly work area; serves hot food to staff and meets cafeteria requirements.
Estimates time to prepare food to meet menu requirements and other deadlines.
