Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is hiring a Diet Aide at RWJUH Hamilton Hospital in New Jersey. This hourly, per-diem day position supports patient meals and nutrition services, with emphasis on accuracy, teamwork, and patient care.

You will enter orders, communicate with patients and staff, verify diet restrictions, and help assemble meals for Meals-on-Wheels. Weekend and holiday availability is required.

Qualifications

• Food service and customer service experience preferred.
• Ability to verify diet restrictions and allergies.

Responsibilities

• Enter patient non-selected and pre-selected meal orders into the computer system while verifying diet, food allergies, preferences, restrictions.
• Communicate with patients, other staff, or visitors to obtain meal orders for delivery.
• Communicate with appropriate staff to ensure accurate meal delivery to patients and escalate any concerns.
• Notify dietitian if a patient refuses 3 meals.
• Assemble menu tickets for Meals-on-Wheels clients.
• Prepare and assemble cold meals for Meals-on-Wheels clients.
• Communicate between food & nutrition department, the patient, and nursing staff.

Pay Range: $15.97 - $18.35 per hour

The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey.

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

As a Diet Aide, you'll play an important role in creating a positive experience for our patients, visitors, and team members. Your commitment to food service excellence, teamwork, and customer service directly contributes to the exceptional patient experience that defines RWJBarnabas Health.

Typical day might include the following:

• Entering patient non-selected and pre-selected meal orders into the computer system while verifying diet, food allergies, preferences, restrictions
• Communicating with patients, other staff, or visitors to obtain meal orders for delivery
