Job summary

Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa, AZ is seeking an experienced Cardiovascular OR Surgical Technologist to support pediatric surgery and other specialty procedures. You will scrub on at least two surgical specialties, pass instruments, and assist in high‑acuity cases in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires CST certification, a high school diploma or GED, and current BLS. The facility offers extensive OR capabilities and advanced robotics technology.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Certification as a surgical technologist; 1–2 years in a surgical technologist role OR 3–4 years in a surgical technologist role; registration where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Prepares for surgical procedures; pulls instruments and supplies and ensures instruments are in good working order.
• Anticipates the surgeon's needs; passes instruments and retracts tissue.
• Demonstrates aseptic technique and universal precautions during procedures.
• Disposes of sharps and trash; participates in counting sharps, instruments, and sponges.
• Assists with OR turnover between cases; stocks and replenishes supplies.
• Participates in training and orientation of surgical technology staff and students.
