Job summary

Penn State Health's Hershey Medical Center is seeking a Physician Assistant to join the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit within the Children’s Hospital. The role requires progression to a high level of autonomy and independence while providing direct patient care under supervising physicians.

The PA will treat diverse pediatric critical care patients, including neurosurgical, surgical, trauma, hematology/oncology, nephrology, pulmonology and cardiac cases, manage ventilators, ECMO, and CRRT, and

Qualifications

• Graduate of an AMA approved Physician Assistant Program or equivalent licensure to practice in the state of employment.
• National Certification in the state of employment or in another state with reciprocity and licensure to practice in the state of employment.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit under supervising physicians.
• Manage diverse patient populations including neurosurgical, surgical, trauma, hematology/oncology, nephrology, pulmonology and cardiac care, and ventilatory support.
• Collaborate with attending physicians, fellows, residents, nurses and other team members to deliver specialty care.
• Provide education and instruction to residents, nurses, students, and other healthcare professionals.
• Support in-house, round-the-clock coverage including weekends and holidays.
