Job summary

SouthernMED is seeking a Certified/Registered Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) to support pediatric patients and providers. You will perform patient work-ups, collect labs, prepare exam rooms, and assist physicians with exams in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Ideal candidates hold CMA/RMA certification, CPR, and have experience with EMR systems. Strong communication, independence, and attention to detail are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Must have active CMA/RMA certification.
• CPR certification required.
• Pediatric experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of computer applications; prior EMR experience preferred.
• Ability to speak, read and write effectively.
• Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
• Detail-oriented with ability to coordinate, analyze and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to exam rooms, document vital signs in chart.
• Instruct patients about medications and special diets.
• Explain treatment procedures to patients.
• Prepare patients for examination.
• Assist physician during patient exams.
• Collect and prepare laboratory specimens.
• Perform basic laboratory tests.
• Keep exam rooms stocked and sterilize equipment.
• Prepare and administer medications as directed.
• Perform blood collection per OSHA standards.
• Remove sutures and change dressings.
• Maintain logs and required checks (fridge temps, meds, oxygen, etc.).
• Process messages from patients and front office staff to providers.
• Meet position requirements and perform essential functions.
• Complete mandatory training.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
