Job summary

Texas Children's Pediatrics seeks a Certified Medical Assistant to provide direct care in a fast-paced setting for patients ages 0-18 and adults as needed. You will perform data collection, vitals, documentation updates, exam preparation, and assist with treatments and immunizations.

Responsibilities include patient education, medication administration, and ensuring safety and quality. A relevant certification and BLS are required, with preferred CMA/CCMA/EMT credentials.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED is required.
• Graduation from a medical assistant or EMT program or documentation showing education not required for certification.
• BLS - Cert-Basic Life Support from American Heart Association.
• 1-year related experience preferred.
• One of the national certifications/registrations (CCMA, CMA-AAMA, CMA-C, NCMA, NRCMA, RMA variants, EMT variants, LIC PAR in Texas) is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in collecting patient/family data across biophysical, psychosocial, developmental, cultural, and environmental domains.
• Record vital signs, BMI, height/weight, and visit reason with accuracy.
• Update documentation about prior care, meds, allergies, and other protocol details.
• Prepare patient for exams and assist provider during treatments and testing.
• Document treatments and interventions within scope of practice.
• Document and administer medications and immunizations as directed by physician.
• Support patient education for self-management of health.
