Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health's Pediatric ICU seeks a Pediatric Care Tech (PCT) to support RNs in the Main Hospital - New Brunswick. The part-time day-shift role offers exposure to critical care and a collaborative nursing team.

You will perform vital signs, assist with daily living activities, and document in EHR under supervision. Requirements include High School Diploma/GED and BLS; CNA experience preferred. 32 hours/week, every other weekend, some holidays.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; CNA experience or clinical training preferred.
• BLS certification required or certification in nursing assistant program.
• CNA certificate or equivalent clinical experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists with daily living activities and provides nursing care to patients including taking vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy, bedside care (bathing, mouth care, skin care).
• Monitors vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, respiration, temperature) to track health status.
• Documents patient information accurately in EHR systems with confidentiality.
• Implements infection control protocols to maintain a safe patient environment.
• Communicates with patients, families, and providers to coordinate care plans.

As a Clinical Care Technician (CCT), a typical day may include:

• Assisting patients with activities of daily living and providing nursing care to patients including taking vital signs, EKGS, performing phlebotomy, assisting with bedside care, i.e. bathing, mouth care, skin care.
• Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to track patient health status
• Document patient information accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems while maintaining strict confidentiality
• Implement infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff, adhering to facility policies
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers to coordinate care plans and address concerns
• Support emergency response efforts by applying Basic Life Support (BLS) skills such as CPR when needed in acute situations
• Providing patient care, based on physical, education, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients
• Providing for effective and safe patient outcomes through practice, judgment and critical actions
• Ongoing communication with patients and nursing colleagues regarding status of patient's care
• Participating in collaboration of our patient's plan of care from admission to discharge to ensure safe transitioning

To be considered for this CCT opportunity, you must have a High School Diploma / GED and a current American Heart Association BLS certification. Previous nursing assistant experience or clinical experience from an accredited nursing program is preferred or a CNA certificate. This position offers a 4 shifts per week schedule (32 hours per week) from 7am to 3:30p.m. and includes every other weekend as well as some holidays.
