Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is hiring a Clinical Care Technician at the Main Hospital in New Brunswick. You will support RNs with vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy, and bedside care in the Cardio Thoracic ICU, while ensuring patient safety and dignity.

Responsibilities include documentation in the EHR, infection control, and effective communication with patients and staff. BLS certification and a high school diploma are required; CNA preferred. Shift is 7pm–7:30am with every other weekend and some holidays.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Nursing assistant experience or CNA certification preferred.
• Prior clinical or hospital experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Take and document vital signs and monitor patient status.
• Perform EKGs and assist with phlebotomy as needed.
• Provide bedside nursing care including hygiene and comfort measures.
• Record patient information in the EHR with accuracy and confidentiality.
• Support care plans under RN supervision and maintain infection control.
• Assist with patient mobility and daily activities while ensuring safety.

As a Clinical Care Technician (CCT), a typical day may include:

• Assisting patients with activities of daily living and providing nursing care to patients including taking vital signs, EKGS,performing phlebotomy, assisting with bedside care, i.e. bathing, mouth care, skin care.
• Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to track patient health status
• Document patient information accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems while maintaining strict confidentiality
• Implement infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff, adhering to facility policies
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers to coordinate care plans and address concerns
• Support emergency response efforts by applying Basic Life Support (BLS) skills such as CPR when needed in acute situations
• Providing patient care, based on physical, education, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients
• Providing for effective and safe patient outcomes through practice, judgment and critical actions
• Ongoing communication with patients and nursing colleagues regarding status of patient’s care
• Participating in collaboration of our patient's plan of care from admission to discharge to ensure safe transitioning

To be considered for this CCT opportunity, you must have a High School Diploma / GED and a current American Heart Association BLS certification. Previous nursing assistant experience or clinical experience from an accredited nursing program is preferred or a CNA certificate. This position offers a 3 shift per weekschedule (36 hours per week)from 7pm to 7:30a.m. and includes every other weekend as well as some holidays.
