Job summary

Dayton Children’s Hospital is seeking a part-time Patient Care Assistant to support nurses in delivering patient care across pediatric services. You will report vital signs, assist with daily living activities, and help ensure safety and confidentiality in a fast-paced hospital setting.

The role emphasizes strong communication, teamwork, and flexibility to meet changing census and patient needs, while aligning with the hospital’s mission and family-centered care approach.

Qualifications

• HSD/GED is required.
• PCA training or PCA experience or actively enrolled in a health care related education program is required.
• 1-2 years STNA experience in hospital setting is preferred.
• CPR is preferred at hire, but must be obtained within 2 weeks of start date.

Responsibilities

• Assist the nurse in completion of patient care activities.
• Communicate effectively and report patient information as indicated.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy; adhere to safety policies.
• Promote a patient and family experience oriented environment and support hospital mission.
• Measure and record vital signs, intake and output; assist with activities of daily living.
• Provide safe transportation and maintain environment for patients; cross-train to support clinical and clerical sides.
