Job summary

Presbyterian Healthcare Services in Albuquerque, NM, seeks an experienced echocardiographer to join our pediatric heart program. Work in a sonography-led lab under leadership with extensive echocardiography backgrounds; you will perform 2D/3D and Doppler studies and contribute to patient care planning.

Qualifications

  • One to four years of inpatient/outpatient cardiac ultrasound experience.
  • Current ARDMS RDCS or CCI RCCS credential required.
  • New Mexico state licensure (NMRTT) required.
  • Current BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive echocardiographic studies using 2D/3D, Doppler, and color flow imaging.
  • Analyze cardiac anatomy and function in real time; document abnormal findings for physicians.
  • Collaborate with pediatric, fetal, and adult congenital cardiologists for care planning.
  • Prepare preliminary reports and ensure EMR documentation is complete and timely.
  • Provide patient/family education and comfort during examinations.
  • Mentor staff and participate in competency validation and CE activities.
  • Support leadership roles in quality and accreditation activities.
  • Assist with TEE procedures and equipment management; participate in call rotation.

Doppler, and color flow imaging technologies.Analyze cardiac anatomy and function in real time, recognizing, evaluating, documenting, and communicating abnormal findings and critical results to physicians.Collaborate closely with pediatric, fetal, and adult congenital cardiologists to support diagnostic evaluation and patient care planning.Prepare preliminary reports, complete required measurements and documentation, and ensure timely and accurate EMR workflow completion.Provide compassionate, age-appropriate patient and family education while ensuring patient comfort and cooperation throughout the examination process.Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to sonographers, providing guidance on scanning techniques, image optimization, and professional development.Support quality improvement initiatives and departmental standards through participation in competency validation, continuing education, and performance improvement activities.May serve in leadership roles such as Lead Echocardiographer, Quality Coordinator, or Technical Director, supporting accreditation requirements, quality assessment activities, operational efficiency, and best practices.Assist with equipment management, troubleshooting, capital equipment evaluation, and collaboration with Biomedical Engineering to maintain optimal imaging performance.Support transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) procedures in the catheterization lab, operating room, and elective study settings.Rotate through inpatient, outpatient, and outreach locations and participate in call coverage, including evenings, weekends, and overnight rotations.Maintain knowledge of applicable regulatory, accreditation, and hospital standards, including Joint Commission requirements and departmental policies.Participate in staff meetings and other duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals.Qualifications:Level IEducationHigh school diploma or GED required.Graduate of a two-year Allied Health Training Program, Ultrasound Technology program, or a Bachelor's degree program in a health science field, including but not limited to cardiovascular technology, ultrasound,
