Job summary

Orlando Health is seeking a Cardiac OR Registered Nurse (RN) to provide specialized perioperative care for pediatric cardiac surgery patients in an operating room setting at Arnold Palmer Hospital in Orlando, FL. This full-time, on-site role requires day shifts and on-call availability.

You will prepare the cardiac OR, coordinate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary teams, monitor patient status, administer medications, and ensure safety, infection control, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Florida or eligibility for licensure.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications; pediatric life support certifications preferred.
• Previous OR experience, ideally in cardiac or pediatric surgery, within an acute care hospital setting.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and time-management skills; ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
• Associate or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN preferred); commitment to ongoing professional learning and adherence to evidence-based practices.
• On-call requirement: candidate must live within 30 minutes of hospital.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized perioperative nursing care to pediatric cardiac surgery patients in an operating room environment.
• Prepare the cardiac OR and coordinate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary teams; ensure equipment and supplies are available and functioning.
• Circulate and/or scrubs during procedures; monitor patient status and administer medications as ordered.
• Uphold safety, infection control, and documentation standards; communicate with families.
• Participate in quality improvement and evidence-based practice initiatives.
