Job summary

Connecticut Children's is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician to support safety and comfort for pediatric patients across Med/Surg, PICU and NICU, with flexible support to the Emergency Department and Integrated Care Unit as needed.

The role supports RN-led care, assists with data collection, ADLs, vitals and de-escalation techniques, and participates in care planning under licensed supervision. Requires BLS CPR and Marcus Crisis Prevention Program within 1 month of hire.

Qualifications

• Education required: High School diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Registered Nurse in collecting data of the patient during the intake/admission process for behavioral/psychiatric patients.
• Maintains a safe, therapeutic environment and communicates observations of escalating risk to the team.
• Obtains vital signs/weights as delegated by the RN; may support ED triage functions when no patients are present in Zone C.
• Assists with Activities of Daily Living and day-to-day patient care tasks as directed; supports visitation policies.
