Job summary

Connecticut Children's Medical Center in Hartford is seeking a dedicated Behavioral Health Technician to support pediatric psychiatric/behavioral health care across Med/Surg, PICU, NICU and ED as needed. You will assist the primary RN in intake, observations, de-escalation, ADL support and documentation while maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment for patients and their families during night shifts.

The role emphasizes teamwork with the nursing staff, requires BLS CPR and crisis prevention

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or GED required.
• Experience: Minimum of one year with pediatric psychiatric/behavioral health patients.
• Licenses: BLS CPR for Healthcare provider required.

Responsibilities

• Assist RN in intake/admission data collection for behavioral/psychiatric patients.
• Inventory items, wanding and clothing changes; secure items per department standard.
• Communicate observations of patient environment and escalation risks.
• Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment and boundaries for patients, families and staff.
• Assist with ADLs and escorting patients as needed.
• Complete patient documentation and obtain vital signs as delegated by RN.
• Support department operations and adherence to visitation policies.
