Job summary

Children's Healthcare of Atlanta is seeking an experienced Behavioral & Mental Health clinician to conduct comprehensive assessments and coordinate safe discharge planning in the Emergency Department. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe patient care in a pediatric setting.

The role requires a Master’s degree in Social Work or Counseling, GA LCSW/LPC licensure (or eligibility), and three years of post-graduate experience.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work or Counseling.
• GA licensure: LCSW or LPC (or eligibility).
• Marcus Crisis Prevention Program training within 90 days of hire.
• Three years of postgraduate clinical or social work experience.
• Experience in pediatric behavioral health preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in comprehensive BMH assessments and discharge planning.
• Collaborate with ED, psychiatry, case management, and nursing to determine discharge disposition.
• Complete 1013s to authorize involuntary inpatient transport when needed.
• Provide ongoing support and daily reassessments during patient stays.
• Assist BMH Case Management with discharge/placement processes.
• Share information with BMH team to ensure coordinated care.
• Connect patients and families to outpatient behavioral health resources.
• Assist families in accessing stabilization resources.
• Serve as a mandated reporter for child/adult protective concerns.
• Participate in mandatory team huddles, rounds, and staff meetings.
