Job summary

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta seeks a Behavioral Health Specialist to conduct comprehensive behavioral and mental health assessments and suicide risk evaluations in the emergency department. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop safe disposition plans and support inpatient transfers when needed.

The role requires a Master’s in Social Work or Counseling, Georgia licensure (LCSW/LPC preferred), and experience in pediatric behavioral health.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work or Counseling is required.
• Licensed in Georgia as LCSW or LPC is preferred.
• Completion of Marcus Crisis Prevention Program within 3 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Conducts comprehensive behavioral & mental health assessments and suicide assessments in the Emergency Department.
• Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to develop safe disposition planning.
• Provide direct patient care and discharge planning for patients in behavioral/mental health crises.
• Assist with onboarding and training of new hires.
• Maintain documentation by end of shift.
