Job summary

Shriners Children's in St. Louis seeks a Chief of Pediatric Anesthesia to lead a dedicated perioperative team while maintaining an active clinical practice.

The role directs clinical, operational, educational, and research activities to advance safe, family-centered pediatric anesthesia care. The practice features two operating rooms staffed daily, an all-physician anesthesia model without CRNA supervision, and a rotating 1-in-4 home-call schedule.

Qualifications

• MD or DO with board certification/eligibility in anesthesiology.
• Pediatric subspecialty certification preferred.
• At least seven years of post-residency pediatric anesthesia experience.
• Leadership or administrative experience in an academic or hospital setting preferred.
• Eligible for Missouri medical licensure, DEA, and hospital privileges.

Responsibilities

• Lead perioperative anesthesia services and clinical practice for Shriners Children's St. Louis.
• Develop protocols and clinical pathways; lead quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
• Oversee regulatory compliance; recruit and mentor physicians; manage departmental budgets and resources.
• Collaborate with surgeons, nursing, and hospital leadership; serve on the medical executive committee.
• Support education, research, strategic planning and program growth.
