Job summary

Inova Ambulatory Clinical Nutrition seeks a Pediatric Ambulatory Registered Dietitian to join the team in Fairfax, VA. This full-time, day-shift role runs Monday through Friday and focuses on delivering safe, therapeutic nutrition care in a collaborative clinical setting.

The RD provides education and coordinates care with physicians and nurses, contributing to Inova’s reputation as a national healthcare leader while supporting family-centered nutrition services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree minimum if licensed before 1/1/2024; Dietitians registered after 1/1/2024 must hold a Master’s Degree.
• Registered Dietitian (RD) within 3 months; Basic Life Support (BLS) within 3 months

Responsibilities

• Performs a comprehensive assessment and interprets data to synthesize interrelationships.
• Forms an individualized nutrition plan of care based on assessment findings.
• Monitors patient tolerance to nutrition therapy and adjusts as needed.
• Coordinates the nutrition care plan with the physician and healthcare team.
• Communicates with team, patients, and families to maximize outcomes.
• Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to improve knowledge and care.
• Educates physicians, residents, nurses, and others to optimize nutrition therapy outcomes.
• Implements research findings into practice and revises patient education materials as needed.
• Assesses educational needs and provides nutrition education/counseling.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

Inova Ambulatory Clinical Nutrition is looking for a dedicated Pediatric Ambulatory Registered Dietitian to join the Team. This full-time role will be day-shift working Monday – Friday located in Fairfax, VA. The Pediatric Ambulatory Registered Dietitian provides safe and therapeutic nutritional care in a comprehensive and systematic manner. Provides clinical services and act as a resource to physicians, nurses and other professional healthcare team members, to provide patients with optimum nutritional care. Pediatric Ambulatory Registered Dietitian Responsibilities

• Performs a comprehensive assessment by interpreting multiple, sometimes conflicting, data and synthesizing their interrelationships.
• Formulates an individualized nutrition plan of care based on assessment findings and interpreting trends in patient populations to achieve best practice.
• Anticipates nutritional intervention issues, monitors patient tolerance to nutrition therapy and responds when standards of nutrition care recommend changes.
• Coordinates the nutrition care plan with the physician and other healthcare providers while serving as a resource in the integration of the nutrition care plan into the comprehensive plan of care for the patient.
• Communicates with the healthcare team members, patients and families to maximize patient outcomes.
• Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to increase practice knowledge and incorporate that knowledge into the nutrition plan of care.
• Provides education to physicians, residents, nurses and other healthcare providers to optimize nutrition therapy outcomes.
• Incorporates research findings into nutrition practice standards, may develop/revise patient education programs when applicable, and participates in the development and revision of patient education materials.
• Assesses the educational needs of patients/families and provides appropriate nutrition education/counseling.
• Provides education to physicians, residents, nurses, and other healthcare providers to optimize nutrition therapy interventions and outcomes. Incorporates research findings into nutrition practice standards, may develop/revise patient education programs when applicable, and participates in the development and revision of patient education materials.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree minimum if licensed before 1/1/2024; Dietitians registered after 1/1/2024 must hold a Master's Degree
• Certification: Registered Dietitian (RD) within 3 months; Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association within 3 months

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous pediatric experience preferred.
