Job summary

Inova Cares for Children in Falls Church, VA is seeking a dedicated Outpatient Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This full-time day shift runs Monday through Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm, providing care in a pediatric outpatient setting.

You will perform patient education, vaccinations, phlebotomy, and intake processes while delivering safe, holistic care. A BSN is required; ADN holders must complete BSN within five years and hold VA RN licensure with BLS.

Qualifications

• BSN from an accredited nursing program is required; ADN holders must complete BSN within five years.
• RN license to practice in Virginia or eligible.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Performs essential duties in outpatient clinic, including full intakes and medication reconciliation.
• Provides patient education and administers vaccinations, injections, and phlebotomy.
• Delivers safe, holistic care and collaborates with the team to improve patient outcomes.
• Makes independent clinical decisions based on education and experience.

Outpatient Registered Nurse (RN) Job Responsibilities

• Performs essential duties necessary to clinic or non-acute operations to include:
  • Full Intakes
  • Reconciliation of Medications
  • Patient Education
  • Vaccinations/Injections/Phlebotomy
• Provides safe/therapeutic care in a holistic and systematic way in a physician practice or other outpatient setting. Incorporates differences into the provision of care while integrating knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families to include patient and family education. Achieves desired patient outcomes by using an integrated approach.
• Incorporates data and information to improve care and enhances outcomes while ensuring improvements in practice settings. Provides direction and guidance to others regarding practice while serving as a resource, preceptor and mentor.
• Ensures efficiency in the delivery of care. Determines immediate priorities and offers solutions for problems. Works with the team to achieve maximum productivity.
• Makes independent clinical decisions based on knowledge drawn from education and experience.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: BSN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an Associates Degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
• Licensure: RN licensed, or eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse.
• Experience: 0 years of registered nurse clinical experience.
• Certification: BLS from the American Heart Association.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse
• 1-2 years of experience working with pediatric population
