Job summary

UVA Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support pediatric care in ambulatory settings. Under supervision, you’ll perform rooming, vital signs, specimen collection, basic laboratory testing, and document encounters accurately.

You’ll assist licensed clinicians, handle administrative tasks, manage in-basket messages, and ensure a safe, efficient clinic flow while providing compassionate patient-centered service to diverse age groups.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• AHA BLS certification required.
• Medical Assistant program accreditation or national certification within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assists with clinical intake, vital signs, and documentation.
• Performs rooming and basic laboratory procedures (POCT, venipuncture, specimen collection).
• Assists licensed clinicians during examinations and procedures.
• Performs administrative support: scheduling, in-basket coverage, forms completion.
