Job summary

UVA Health in Charlottesville, VA is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide clinical support, assist with administrative tasks, and help maintain efficient ambulatory operations under supervision of a physician or licensed provider.

Responsibilities include patient care, vital signs, specimen collection, point-of-care testing, wound care, rooming and intake, and documenting charges. The role requires a high school diploma, BLS certification, and national MA certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
• Current Medical Assistant Certification through a recognized national association (AAMA, AMT, NAHP, ARMA, or NHA).

Responsibilities

• Assists in assuring effective and efficient clinic operations and communicates with team members, providers, and patients.
• Completes standardized rooming, clinical intake, data collection, and documentation.
• Provides clinical support to licensed healthcare professionals during examinations and procedures (e.g., specimen collection, point of care testing, venipuncture).
• Organizes daily work to support patient needs and inter-disciplinary teams.
• Implements age-appropriate interventions as directed by the Health Care Provider.
• Reinforces patient/family teaching and education.
• Maintains supplies and equipment; ensures a safe environment.
• Documents and captures charges for clinical services during visits.
• Provides administrative support including scheduling, editing forms, and chart prep.
