Job summary

First Choice Nurses of Eastern VA is seeking experienced PCU Registered Nurses for per diem hospital shifts in the Hampton Roads area. Shifts run 7a-7p or 7p-7a and you can pick up as little as one shift per month or build a fuller schedule.

As a PCU RN, you’ll provide high-quality patient care in acute-care units, monitor patients, administer meds, and collaborate with care teams. VA RN license, BLS/ACLS, and recent PCU experience required; COVID vaccination or exemption.

Qualifications

• Active Virginia RN license required.
• 2 years of recent PCU nursing experience within the past 4 years.
• AHA BLS Current.
• AHA ACLS Current.
• QuantiFERON-TB Gold test within the past 12 months.
• COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption.
• Additional credentials may be required based on facility assignment.

Responsibilities

• Assessing, monitoring, and documenting patient conditions.
• Monitoring cardiac rhythms and changes in patient status.
• Administering medications, IV therapies, and ordered treatments.
• Collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary care teams.
• Maintaining accurate and timely electronic medical records.
• Following facility infection-control and patient-safety standards.
• Educating patients and families regarding care and discharge plans.
• Adapting professionally to different hospital units and environments.
