Job summary

Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC, is seeking a General Medicine Stepdown/PCU RN (8E) for rotating day/night shifts. The unit manages a diverse patient population including COPD/respiratory, trauma, transplant, neuro, cardiac, OB, oncology, and hospice care. New graduates are encouraged to apply.

ADN or Nursing Diploma required; NC license or compact license with NC licensure within 60 days. Relocation assistance and up to $25,000 nursing loan forgiveness are available.

Qualifications

• Graduation from ADN or Nursing Diploma program.
• BSN encouraged within 2 years; must complete within 7 years.
• No prior nursing experience required; new grads welcome.

Responsibilities

• Provide and document professional nursing care using the nursing process.
• Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams.
• Delegate tasks and supervise licensed and unlicensed care providers.
• Maintain a safe, clean, resource-ready environment.
• Participate in professional development and competency training.
• Teach patients and families per care plan.
• Support performance improvement initiatives and unit-based projects.
• Perform additional duties to support patient care.
