Job summary

Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC is seeking a New Grad Registered Nurse to join the 6300 Cardiothoracic Stepdown Unit. You will provide skilled nursing care to adults transitioning from the Cardiothoracic ICU and document care under the supervision of the team leader.

This full-time role offers rotating 7 am-7 pm and 7 pm-7 am shifts with 3,12-hour days and nights, a straight shift option after orientation, and opportunities for professional growth within a renowned academic health system.

Qualifications

• RN licensure in NC or compact state; must obtain NC licensure within 60 days.
• Graduate from an accredited RN program; BLS required and renewals during orientation.
• Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma required; BSN encouraged within 2 years of start date and must be completed within 7 years.

Responsibilities

• Plan, provide and document professional nursing care per physician orders and policies.
• Delegate tasks and supervise activities of other licensed and unlicensed staff.
• Assist other healthcare personnel in patient care delivery.
• Maintain environment and resources; prioritize work and ensure timely care.
• Support own professional development and assist learners.
• Participate in performance improvement activities and related duties.
