Job summary

General Atomics in Tupelo, MS, is seeking a Full Time Technician for the Printed Circuit Board Assembly Department. The role supports EMS Group with modification, fabrication, assembly, testing and routine experiments while recording data.

The position requires soldering experience per J-STD-001 and IPC-610, familiarity with lab equipment, and ability to work safely under established procedures in a high-technology environment.

Qualifications

• Typically requires high school diploma or equivalent with one or more years of experience.
• Electronics Technology degree or three years of related manufacturing experience preferred.
• Must be able to work with common hand tools.
• J-STD level soldering experience is desired.
• Must be able to perform a variety of routine tasks and demonstrate a good working knowledge of laboratory equipment and procedures.
• Ability and willingness to work on systems which have unusual conditions such as high pressure, high voltage, high energy, cryogens, or radioactive materials.
• Knowledge of computer operations and applications pertinent to the field required.

Responsibilities

• Installs, repairs and replaces through-hole and SMT packages including QFP, BGA, chip components, SOIC, axial and radial components.
• Performs solder operations according to J-STD-001 and IPC-610 specifications.
• Maintain and operate PCB assembly equipment including SMT lines, Robotic Soldering, X-Ray, AOI, and Conformal Coating Applications
• Performs functional testing and troubleshooting of equipment and systems in assigned area by utilizing standard engineering and scientific principles.
• Utilize test equipment such as Oscilloscopes, Function Generators, etc.
• Observe all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
• Work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
• Help maintain work area in an orderly condition by returning tools, equipment, and materials to storage areas.
• Other duties as assigned or required.
