Responsibilities

  • Hand-solder SMT and THT components per specifications.
  • Collaborate with Quality Engineers on root-cause investigations.
  • Maintain accurate records and support RMA, test, and logistics teams.

Job Summary & Essential Functions

The Repair Technician is responsible for reworking and repairing finished goods returned on RMAs from the customer. This role ensures all products are restored to specification, documented accurately, and returned to customers or inventory in compliance with quality standards and established procedures.

  • Perform complex repair of printed circuit board assemblies
  • Perform component-level repairs, replacements, adjustments, and calibrations
  • Execute refurbishments based on approved work instructions or engineering guidance
  • Review RMA or MR documentation and confirm required work scope
  • Maintain clear documentation of all repair steps and replaced parts
  • Capture photos, measurements, and details when required for quality records
  • Follow all approved SOPs, WI, safety protocols, and ESD handling standards
  • Ensure repairs meet quality specifications and customer expectations
  • Identify out-of-scope or non-repairable returns and elevate appropriately
  • Work closely with Quality Engineers during root-cause investigations
  • Support RMA team, test technicians, and logistics staff to ensure smooth workflow
  • Contribute to reduction of repeat repair failures and improved turnaround time
  • Hand-solder SMT and THT components per specifications
  • Assemble chassis components using a variety of hardware
  • Assemble electromechanical devices using a variety of hardware
  • Recommend changes in documentation to ensure high quality results
  • Perform verification tests in accordance with assembly instructions
  • Adhere to General Requirements of Team Members
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, job orders, specifications, drawings, schematics, process sheets, wiring diagrams, and small print
  • Advanced component identification skills
  • Soldering skills that meet IPC-A-610 Class 3
  • Ability to assemble medium-to-complex electronic assemblies
  • Ability to utilize SN 63, SN 96 and HMP during soldering
  • Ability to perform complex rework (THT/SMT) utilizing different solder alloys and machines
  • Ability to use rework soldering machine
  • Ability to work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail to produce quality results
  • Ability to work in a high volume, high detail work environment
  • Ability to manipulate and work with tedious and small parts
Required Experience & Education
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant job experience
  • Current IPC-A-610 Certification
  • Current J-STD-001 Certification
  • Current 7711/21 Certification
