Job summary

Top Echelon LLC in Austin, TX seeks a PCB Design Engineer to create complex, high-density multilayer PCBs for rugged embedded computing platforms used in defense and industrial applications.

You will work with hardware engineers across architecture, layout, fabrication, and production to optimize signal integrity, power integrity, manufacturability, and reliability, across the full product lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
• Expertise designing complex high-density multilayer PCBs for aerospace, defense, networking, telecommunications, embedded computing, or other high-performance products.
• 2+ years of PCB layout experience using enterprise-class tools, with Mentor Xpedition preferred.
• Extensive experience with Mentor Xpedition Layout, DxDesigner, and libraries and constraint management.
• Proven ability translating schematics into manufacturable layouts with hardware collaboration.
• Strong background in high-speed digital PCBs (DDR4/5, PCIe Gen4/5, Gigabit Ethernet).
• Experience with 14–24+ layer boards, HDI via tech, BGA/QFN, and RF/FPGA layouts.
• Knowledge of SI, PI, DFx/DFM principles and manufacturing docs.

• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, systems, and test engineers across lifecycle stages.
