Job summary

Viasat is seeking a mid-level PCB CAD Designer to join the CAD team in theSan Jose/Bay Area or New York markets. You will design printed circuit boards, perform placement and routing, ensure DRC/DFM compliance, and prepare documentation for release into the PLM system.

You will work with Mech, NPI, DXF, and Test engineers to meet interface requirements and maintain high-quality PCBs. The role requires 2-3+ years in PCB design and 3+ years with Siemens Xpedition, CES, and EDM, plus solid IPC

Qualifications

• 2-3+ years of experience in PCB design.
• 3+ years of direct experience using Siemens Xpedition, CES, and EDM.
• Basic understanding of PCB fabrication processes, tolerances, and IPC standards.
• Experience with digital/via stacks, RF/Analog, or mixed PCB Layouts.
• Familiar with schematic capture.
• Experience working closely with mechanical engineering to define board profiles, technology, and board stack-ups.

Responsibilities

• Perform PCB design including placement, routing, DRC, DFM checks and documentation.
• Utilize Siemens Xpedition layout tools, including CES and EDM.
• Release CAD data and support drawings into the PLM system and manage engineering change orders.
• Collaborate with Mechanical, NPI, DXF, and Test engineers to ensure standards are achieved.
• Review data from the Mechanical Engineering team to ensure PCB-mechanical interfaces.
