Job summary

Nationwide Children's Hospital is seeking a patient care assistant to provide basic supportive care under supervision of an RN or Care Manager. You will collect vital signs, document data, and support patients and families in a pediatric setting.

Required qualifications include completion of a fundamentals course or equivalent, one year of hospital patient care, active CNA license (Ohio) or equivalent, and CPR (BLS). The role may involve teaching other staff and performing clerical tasks.

Qualifications

• Completion of fundamentals course from an approved nursing program, or equivalent certification or experience, required.
• One year of patient care experience in a hospital setting within the last three years, or equivalent education or certification, required.
• Active CNA in the State of Ohio, or equivalent education or experience, required.
• Current CPR certification (BLS for healthcare provider), required.
• Must demonstrate effective written and verbal communication and provide age-appropriate care per the duties.

Essential Functions:

• Collects, documents, and reports vital signs. May complete screening questions and documentation or minor specimen testing as assigned.
• Promotes general patient safety. Holds and positions patients and assists with procedures. Prepares materials and supplies as delegated.
• Remains compliant with HIPAA, maintains professionalism, and ensures confidentiality of patient information.
• Ensures environmental standards are met and all unit and patient areas are stocked, cleaned, and maintained.
• Performs clerical and administrative tasks as necessary.
• Completes continuing education and participates in offered educational opportunities. May act as a preceptor and train other staff.

Education Requirement:

Completion of fundamentals course from an approved nursing program, or equivalent certification or experience, required.

Certifications:

• Active Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) in the State of Ohio, or equivalent education or experience, required.
• Current CPR certification (BLS for healthcare provider), required.
