Job summary

Nationwide Children's Hospital is seeking a Night Shift Chief Nursing Assistant (CNA) to support pediatric patient care. The 0.9 FTE position runs 7:00pm–7:30am with every other weekend and holiday requirements, starting at $19.10/hr plus night and weekend differentials.

Responsibilities include vitals, safety, and patient support under RN supervision. Requirements include completion of an approved nursing fundamentals course, active Ohio CNA, current BLS CPR, and at least one year of hospital

Qualifications

• Completion of fundamentals course from an approved nursing program or equivalent experience.
• Active CNA in the State of Ohio, or equivalent education or experience.
• Current CPR certification (BLS for healthcare provider).
• One year of patient care experience in a hospital setting within the last three years.

Responsibilities

• Collect, document, and report vital signs and data.
• Promote patient safety, assist with procedures, and prepare materials.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and protect patient confidentiality.
• Ensure unit and patient areas are stocked, cleaned, and maintained.
• Perform clerical and administrative tasks as necessary.
• Complete continuing education and participate in offered educational opportunities; may act as a preceptor.

Performs basic supportive care to specified patients and families under the direction and supervision of an RN or Care Manager. Collects, documents, and reports data to the RN or Care Manager.

Essential Functions:

• Collects, documents, and reports vital signs. May complete screening questions and documentation or minor specimen testing as assigned.
• Promotes general patient safety. Holds and positions patients and assists with procedures. Prepares materials and supplies as delegated.
• Remains compliant with HIPAA, maintains professionalism, and ensures confidentiality of patient information.
• Ensures environmental standards are met and all unit and patient areas are stocked, cleaned, and maintained.
• Performs clerical and administrative tasks as necessary.
• Completes continuing education and participates in offered educational opportunities. May act as a preceptor and train other staff.

Education Requirement

Completion of fundamentals course from an approved nursing program, or equivalent certification or experience, required.

Certifications

• Active Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) in the State of Ohio, or equivalent education or experience, required.
