Job summary

JGA Recruitment Group | B Corp™ is seeking a Director of Payroll in Maryland to own end-to-end US payroll across multiple states. This senior role will lead a payroll team, oversee Workday Payroll optimisation, and drive transformation through automation and AI-enabled process redesign.

You will partner with Finance and HR leadership to shape payroll strategy, governance, and reporting while ensuring compliance and employee service excellence.

Qualifications

• Deep US payroll and multi-state expertise.
• Strong Workday Payroll knowledge and experience.
• Experience transforming or redesigning payroll processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end payroll across a complex, multi-state US population.
• Manage and develop an established payroll team.
• Review and redesign existing payroll processes, controls and operating procedures.
• Drive greater utilisation and optimisation of Workday Payroll.
• Reduce manual processes and introduce greater automation across the function.
• Identify practical opportunities to utilise AI within payroll operations.
• Maintain compliance across multi-state taxation, wage and hour, garnishments, year-end and wider payroll requirements.
• Partner closely with Finance, HR and senior leadership on payroll strategy and transformation.
• Improve payroll reporting, governance and employee service.
