Job summary

JGA Recruitment Group is partnering with a prestigious organisation to appoint a Director of Payroll. This hybrid role sits in the US with responsibility for ~3,000 employees across 30 states and reports to the CFO. The candidate will transform the payroll function, design new processes, and drive AI-driven efficiency.

Leading a payroll team, you will maximise Workday capabilities, strengthen controls and reporting, and position payroll as a strategic partner within the business.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading payroll transformations in a US multi-state environment.
• Strong background designing and implementing payroll processes from first principles.
• Experience leveraging AI/automation to improve payroll delivery and controls.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and redesign the payroll operation across ~3,000 employees in 30 states.
• Lead and develop the existing payroll team.
• Maximise Workday Payroll functionality and reduce manual workarounds.
• Establish payroll as a strategic partner to the wider organisation.
• Strengthen compliance, controls, reporting and customer service.
