Job summary

California State University, Fresno is seeking a Payroll Technician II who will handle a wide range of confidential payroll and personnel transactions across campus, ensuring timely and accurate pay for staff, management, tenure-track faculty, and student employees.

Under supervision, you will manage promotions, appointments, leaves, reclassifications, retirements and respond to inquiries in line with state and federal laws and collective bargaining agreements.

Qualifications

• Experience with preparing and processing payroll and personnel documents.
• Knowledge of state and federal laws and collective bargaining agreements.
• Proficiency with MS Office and HRIS/data management systems.

Responsibilities

• Process confidential payroll transactions for staff, management, and faculty across multiple pay plans.
• Handle employment status changes: promotions, appointments, leaves, reclassifications, retirements.
• Resolve questions across bargaining units and ensure accurate payroll data.
• Learn and use PIMS and PeopleSoft CMS; collaborate with Controller’s Office and campus payroll team.
