Job summary

Valley Water is seeking an Accounting Technician (Payroll) to join the General Accounting Unit in the Financial Planning and Management Services Division. You will ensure employees are paid accurately and on time by processing timesheets, maintaining payroll records, and handling deductions and wage garnishments.

The role involves assisting employees with payroll inquiries, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring compliance with applicable policies and regulations.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to a high school diploma with two years of college coursework in accounting or related field.
• Knowledge of payroll concepts, tax rules, and deductions.
• Experience with payroll software or systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up and maintain employee direct deposit, tax data, allowances, and deductions.
• Process and review biweekly timesheets and leave-related entries.
• Enter timesheets into the payroll system and process prior-period adjustments.
• Respond to payroll inquiries and distribute payroll checks and direct deposit slips.
• Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
