Job summary

HelloConnect in Taguig City (BGC, Inoza Tower) is seeking a Payroll Team Leader to oversee payroll operations and lead a high-performing team. You will ensure accurate, timely payroll processing and compliance, while partnering with employees, managers, and finance to address inquiries and drive improvements.

• Proven experience in payroll calculations, annualization, statutory compliance, and BIR Form 2316 preparation.
• Previous experience leading, supervising, mentoring, or managing a payroll team.
• Strong understanding of payroll policies, procedures, internal controls, and compliance requirements.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end payroll processing to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Review payroll calculations, adjustments, and imports before finalization.
• Lead payroll calendars, advisories, deadlines, and cut-off dates.
• Mentor and develop the payroll team to deliver accurate and timely payroll processing.
• Handle complex payroll queries with timely resolutions.
• Provide payroll guidance to employees and managers.
• Develop payroll policies and internal controls to strengthen operations.
• Identify continuous improvement initiatives across payroll processes.
• Ensure compliance with statutory and tax requirements.
• Lead the preparation of annualized compensation and Form 2316.
• Support month-end and year-end reporting.
• Collaborate with Senior Accountants and Finance Manager for audits.
• Perform other payroll-related tasks as needed.

As a Payroll Team Leader, you will play a key role in ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll operations while leading and developing a high-performing payroll team. You will serve as a trusted partner to employees, managers, and other stakeholders, providing expert guidance on payroll-related concerns while driving process improvements, strengthening controls, and supporting the development of effective payroll policies and reporting frameworks.

What you’ll do

• Oversee the end-to-end payroll processing to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
• Review payroll calculations, adjustments, and payroll imports before the finalization of payroll registers.
• Manage payroll calendars, advisories, deadlines, and cut-off dates.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the payroll team to consistently deliver accurate and timely payroll processing.
• Conduct training, coaching, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing sessions within the team.
• Handle complex and escalated payroll queries and concerns, providing timely and effective resolutions.
• Serve as a trusted payroll advisor to employees, managers, stakeholders, and other departments.
• Provide expert guidance and insights on payroll-related matters and ensure concerns are properly addressed.
• Review and develop payroll policies, procedures, and internal controls to strengthen payroll operations.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives across payroll processes, systems, and reporting.
• Ensure compliance with applicable statutory and tax requirements related to employee compensation.
• Lead the preparation of employees’ annualized compensation and the release of BIR Form 2316.
• Support month-end and year-end payroll and financial reporting requirements.
• Partner with Senior Accountants and the Finance Manager in preparing substantial reports and supporting internal and external audits.
• Perform other payroll-related functions and responsibilities as assigned from time to time.

What you’ll bring

• Strong experience in Philippine payroll operations, preferably with end-to-end payroll processing experience.
• Proven experience in payroll calculations, annualization, statutory compliance, and BIR Form 2316 preparation.
• Previous experience leading, supervising, mentoring, or managing a payroll team.
• Strong understanding of payroll policies, procedures, internal controls, and compliance requirements.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage confidential and sensitive payroll information with professionalism and integrity.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees, managers, Finance, HR, and other business functions.
• Experience working with international stakeholders is an advantage.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple payroll deadlines and priorities.
• A continuous improvement mindset with the ability to identify opportunities to improve processes, systems, and reporting.
• Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and familiarity with payroll or HR systems is an advantage.
