Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Lead Payroll Tax Specialist to ensure accurate federal, state, and local payroll taxation and timely reporting. The role leads, trains, and mentors the Payroll team while handling complex tax issues, notices, and system configurations.

The candidate will collaborate with HRIS/IT, Payroll Operations, and external authorities to resolve issues, implement corrective actions, and strengthen payroll tax knowledge across the organization.

Qualifications

• 5+ years payroll tax administration experience
• Experience handling tax notices and abatements
• Knowledge of multi-state payroll taxation and filings
• CPP designation or equivalent is a plus

Responsibilities

• Lead payroll tax compliance and administration across federal, state, and local levels
• Configure and maintain payroll tax setups for entities and locations
• Perform reconciliations for payroll tax filings and payments
• Manage notices, penalties, and abatements with authorities
• Mentor and train Payroll team on tax processes and regulations
• Support audits and process improvements
