Beachwood, NJ | Competitive hourly rate

Onsite | Flexible Part-Time Schedule (Days/Hours Negotiable)

About the Opportunity

We’re partnered with a mission-driven behavioral health organization in New Jersey that serves children, teens, adults, and families across the community. With hundreds of employees supporting programs and services every day, accurate and timely payroll is critical to keeping everything running smoothly.

They’re hiring a part-time Payroll Specialist to support the Lead Payroll person with processing payroll for approximately 500 employees. This is a great role for someone who’s confident with payroll fundamentals, comfortable in ADP, and wants flexibility in their schedule without giving up meaningful, impactful work.

If you enjoy detail, deadlines, and being the “go-to” person when it comes to paychecks and payroll questions, this is a strong fit.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Assist Lead Payroll with end-to-end processing for ~500 employees, including collecting and reviewing timesheets/timekeeping data
  • Enter, verify, and process payroll in ADP (earnings, deductions, garnishments), ensuring accurate and timely direct deposits and checks
  • Support tax compliance by calculating/monitoring federal, state, and local withholdings and assisting with payroll tax filings
  • Reconcile payroll with the general ledger, prepare routine payroll reports, and support variance analysis/resolution
  • Handle employee payroll inquiries, coordinate with HR on onboarding/offboarding, and maintain accurate, confidential payroll records
  • Assist with year-end (W‑2s, reporting), audits, ADP updates (codes, pay types), and recommend process improvements to streamline payroll operations
What They’re Looking For
  • High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • 1+ years of hands‑on payroll experience
  • Experience with ADP payroll systems
  • Solid understanding of federal and state payroll regulations
  • Proficiency with Excel and general comfort working with numbers and reports
Why Payroll Specialists Love This Opportunity
  • Flexible part‑time schedule – Hours can be tailored within business needs; great for work–life balance
  • Impactful work – Your accuracy directly supports 500+ employees who are serving the community every day
  • Close partnership with a Lead Payroll professional – Learn, grow, and have a clear point of support
  • Broad exposure to full‑cycle payroll – From data collection to reconciliation and reporting
  • Stable organization with a meaningful mission – Be part of a team focused on helping people, not just pushing numbers
