We are seeking an experienced Payroll & Benefits Specialist to join a growing HR team and take ownership of recurring payroll processing and day-to-day benefits administration. This is a hands-on, employee-facing role supporting an hourly, multi-shift workforce.
The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, comfortable working with payroll deadlines, and able to confidently troubleshoot payroll and benefits questions while maintaining confidentiality and compliance.
What You'll Do
- Prepare and process payroll using ADP Workforce Now, including reviewing timecards, missing punches, overtime, shift differentials, leave, and approved pay changes.
- Partner with managers to resolve timekeeping issues and payroll discrepancies before processing deadlines.
- Enter and verify new hires, status changes, terminations, deductions, garnishments, and other payroll transactions.
- Coordinate new-hire payroll information with the Talent Acquisition and Onboarding team.
- Administer employee benefits including medical, dental, vision, retirement, HSA/FSA, and other applicable programs.
- Process benefit enrollments, qualifying life events, terminations, vendor updates, and open enrollment activities.
- Reconcile benefit invoices, payroll deductions, and vendor records and resolve discrepancies.
- Serve as a knowledgeable resource for employees regarding pay, timekeeping, leave balances, benefits, enrollment, and deductions.
- Maintain accurate and confidential payroll and benefits records and support payroll, benefits, and compliance audits.
- Apply knowledge of federal and applicable state wage-and-hour requirements, overtime, paid leave, recordkeeping, and payroll deductions.
- Assist with employee communications, HR projects, SOPs, checklists, and process improvements.
- Provide occasional administrative/front-office coverage, including answering incoming calls, greeting visitors, and assisting with general office logistics.
- Build positive relationships with employees, candidates, managers, vendors, and visitors through professional and responsive communication.
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of hands-on payroll processing experience.
- 2+ years of benefits administration experience.
- Experience processing payroll for hourly, multi-shift employees, including overtime, shift differentials, timecard corrections, and deductions.
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of federal and applicable state wage-and-hour and payroll requirements.
- Experience with benefits enrollment, qualifying life events, open enrollment, and benefits/vendor reconciliations.
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills, along with experience using HRIS/payroll and benefits administration systems.
- Experience developing or improving SOPs, checklists, reconciliations, or payroll/benefits workflows.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organization, confidentiality, and ability to meet firm payroll deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and a customer-service-oriented approach when working with employees and managers.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Accounting, or a related field preferred.
