Job summary

Neighborly is seeking a Payroll Specialist to support accurate and timely payroll processing across states on the People Services team. The role handles payroll records, deductions, 401(k), and compliance tasks while coordinating with internal teams.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of payroll experience, strong Excel and HRIS skills, and a meticulous, proactive approach in a fast-paced environment. This hybrid role offers clear avenues for growth within Neighborly's home and business services

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with 3+ years payroll experience.
• Multi-state payroll/taxes, confidential data handling, discrepancy resolution.
• Proficient in MS Office (advanced Excel with pivot tables/VLOOKUP); HRIS/timekeeping systems.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Independent worker, team player, customer-service focused with continuous improvement drive.

Responsibilities

• Process payroll records accurately and on time across multiple states, including deductions and 401(k).
• Confirm accurate timekeeping, pay reporting, and payroll-related information with supervisors.
• Prepare, process, and distribute payroll checks and adjustments as needed.
• Process weekly Davis-Bacon payroll for 10-15 jobs with DOL documentation.
• Prepare payroll, billing, bonus, and accounting reports.
• Support month-end payroll and benefits accounting, including GL activity.
• Maintain payroll records and support audits and compliance documentation.
• Support payroll changes due to acquisitions, transitions, or reorganizations.
• Manage payroll communications via shared inbox and escalation.
• Support garnishments, direct deposit corrections, pay card tasks.
• Receive and process incoming payroll mail and coordinate internal mail transfers.
