Vaco has partnered with a highly respected organization to hire a Payroll Specialist in Tempe, AZ. You will process payroll for about 1,000 employees, ensure accuracy and compliance, and support payroll reporting.

The role requires 3–5+ years of payroll experience, strong Excel and ERP knowledge (JD Edwards), and a detail-oriented mindset. The position offers competitive pay between $25 and $30+ per hour, with potential bonuses and benefits.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of payroll processing experience.
• Experience with high-volume payroll operations.
• Advanced Excel skills: Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, conditional formatting.
• Experience with payroll software/ERP; JD Edwards preferred.
• Construction, manufacturing, certified payroll, or multi-state payroll experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process high-volume payroll transactions for approximately 1,000 employees while ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Audit, validate, and reconcile time entry batches, labor records, and payroll reports.
• Process off-cycle payments, payroll adjustments, corrections, and final paychecks.
• Support certified payroll reporting, prevailing wage compliance, garnishments, and payroll tax activities.
• Respond to employee payroll inquiries and generate payroll-related reports as needed.
