Job Overview

The Payroll Specialist (Contract) will manage multi-state payroll processing, ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and handle payroll inquiries with accuracy and confidentiality. This position reports to the Associate Director, HRIS Technology, and offers remote work with standard business hours.

Responsibilities

1. Process biweekly and semimonthly payrolls across multiple states, including special payrolls.
2. Handle off-cycle payroll runs, such as terminations and retroactive payments.
3. Manage timesheets, PTO, salary updates, and 401(k) deferrals.
4. Generate reports using ADP and Excel for payroll reconciliation, labor costs, and audits.
5. Ensure timely filing of payroll taxes and statutory reports.
6. Maintain confidentiality of payroll and employee information.
7. Assist employees with payroll and HR-related inquiries.
8. Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
9. Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field.
• 4-6 years of multi-state payroll experience.
• 3-5 years of ADP payroll processing experience.
• Proficient in Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, formulas).
• Strong analytical skills and knowledge of labor laws.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Workday.
